*READ! READ! READ! Listening to stories and reading helps your kindergartner immensely. Read the stories that are sent home and keep them in your child's book box.
*If they have not already mastered the alphabet (identification and sounds), practice letters with letter flash cards at home.
*Number flash card practice.
*Review sight words frequently.
*WRITE! Have students write you stories and practice their sentence writing using sight words and CVC words. Encourage inventive spelling. Tell them to just put down the sounds they hear. It is developmentally appropriate for them to be trying to spell words using sounds, It is okay if they spell words wrong! Keep encouraging writing!
